Sir George Pretyman-Tomline (1750-1827), tutor and confidante of Pitt the Younger, successively Bishop of Lincoln and Winchester. He subsequently became a great friend of Pitt and attributed his appointment to Lincoln at so young an age to Pitts recommendation. The order is for copies of John Overtons True Churchman Ascertained and the Rev. Charles Daubenys Eight Discourses on the Connection between the New and Old Testament (both 1802). It is interesting to note that the authors of these two works were prominently connected to the Calvinist debates of the time, in which Pretyman-Tomline was soon to take an anti-Calvinist stance.
