This was a very important Act. Whilst Cromwell was occupied with his Army in Scotland when Prince Charles moved south of the border with his Forces, This move was anticipated by the Parliamentarians who responded by issuing this Act calling out the Militia to strengthen the English Army for when it was to meet that of Prince Charles. The Act was issued on the 12th August 1651 and the Battle of Worcester, the final battle of the English Civil War, was fought on the 3rd September 1651 with the defeat of Charles’s army.
