Product Description

A typical late Regency commonplace book of poems and songs representing the reading interests of the two compilers. The well known pieces include “Shakespeare’s Sonnets” and “Lines on Ann Hathaway”, some of Byron interest and one relating to the Pretender. There are a large number of poems which can be traced as having been published but only in magazines or periodicals. We have checked a sample number of the pieces by the first line and the results show a typical mix including some untraced, so presumably unpublished. The end paper is signed “M.A.Bull 1830”, presumably one of the two compilers.
