The exceedingly rare small version of this Mezzotint Droll Satire which is on a scene in R.B.Sheridan’s play ñThe Duennaî first performed at Covent Garden in 1775. The scene shows a group of monks sitting round a table and well advanced in their Cups. See B.M Satires No. 3781 which lists only the larger version and dates it erroneously as c.1760. From the collection of Christopher Lennox-Boyd.
