A Satire on William Crockford (1775-1844) one of the most famous names in the history of the gaming world in England. Crockford started life following in his father’s footsteps as a Fishmonger. He then moven to Bookmaking and by 1816 had made enough money to take a quarter share in a gambling tavern in St. James. By 1827 he had made enough money to purchase a large property in St. James where he opened ñCrockfordsî in 1827. It is still operating there today. N
