Product Description

A Satire on the demonstration made against the College of Physicians for denying access to Fellowship those who had practised Surgery, and also those who were not educated at English Universities which of course excluded Scotsmen. The engraving shows the demonstration in progress led by a doctor followed by a procession at the fron of which are a drummer and a bagpipe player. Recourse was made to law and in 1771 the cause was heard by Lord Mansfield but decision was made in favour of the College. BM. No. 4174
