Product Description

A satire on the duel fought between the Irish Peer, William Richard Chetwynd (1683?-1770) M.P. for Stafford and Horatio Walpole (1678-1757). Chetwynd had told Walpole to his face in the House of Commons that he ought to be hanged following the investigation into his affairs. This resulted in a Duel which was fought at the foot of stairs leading out of the Lobby of the House of Commons. The Duel was stopped by a passing Clerk before serious injury might have occurred.
