A Satire on the massacre of supporters of John Wilkes who had rioted at St. George’s Fields in May 1768 after Wilkes had been sent to prison for writing an article in the North Briton criticising George III. The troops were called out, fired on the mob killing six persons, the first of whom was William Allen. A second version was published. See BM. No. 4242. But this is a variant without imprint or date.
